Girls Aloud are a five-piece British girl group, consisting of Nadine Coyle, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Kimberley Walsh and Cheryl Tweedy. Kimberley and Nicola originally only made it to the top 15. But from a disqualification and someone else leaving the competition, Nicola and Kimberley were brought in as their replacements. They were formed on the ITV1 television show Popstars: The Rivals on November 30th 2002. The concept of the programme was to produce a boyband and a girlband who would be 'rivals' and compete for the Christmas number 1 single in 2002. Girls Aloud debut single, "Sound Of The Underground" was the Xmas 2002 No.1 and stayed there for four weeks, and their second single, "No Good Advice" made No.2 The album, "Sound Of The Underground" was released on May 26 and was No.2, only kept off the top spot by Justin Timberlake. The next single, also made No.2 in August 2003, as did "Jump [For My Love]", the theme song for the movie Love Actually. The success has continued. Girls Aloud are now in the Guiness Book of Records for having the most Top 10 and Top 5 singles by a girlband.
